I’m Bart, your nature guide to the Rockies.
About me
Born and raised in the wetlands and beech forests of Belgium, I grew up with a fondness for the eurasian jays, kingfishers, fly agarics and black alders of Western Europe. After moving to the Rocky Mountains in 2003, my love for the natural world has only deepened. To paraphrase John Denver, I truly was born in the summer of my 27th year, coming home to a place I’d never been before.
I am a Certified Interpretive Guide (CIG-NAI). I have spent two decades and countless hours participating in and leading bird walks, and have created naturalist curriculum for adults and kids. I am finalizing my certification as a Colorado State University Native Plant Master. I have travelled extensively in the Rockies (NM, CO, WY, MT), the Pacific Northwest (WA, OR), Alaska, and Canada.
I enjoy all means of human-propelled travel (hiking, bicycle, snowshoeing), and I love to forage and teach people about birds, plants, and wildlife.
I look forward to sharing the beauty of the Rockies with you.
